Not very, is the conclusion I am sure you will come to if you do, just a modicum of research. (See my Story)

But that's not surprising given the construction of most web search engines.

For a start, the most popular and best known search engine, that I am aware of, are owned by a commercial entity. These search engines were created to make money.

Making money and community best interest don’t live in the same house, not even the same street or town, even probably not the same State and possibly not even the same country but each day million and possibly billion of people make decisions and form opinions based on their uses of these entities.

So bad are the big commercial search engines at linking content to enquiry that to out manoeuvre your competition you don't have to have a better web site, you just have to to hire commercial companies to put you infront.

Of Course Google dosent agree, it says

Search ranking

Sites' positions in our search results are determined based on hundreds of factors designed to provide end-users with helpful, accurate search results. .....

Google goes on to say it' up to the " webmasters" ... to improve the rank of their sites by creating high-quality sites that users will want to use and share.

Now that seems fair-dosen't it !!!

Name me 5 search engines. ------ if you can't your are in good company most web users can't.

Name me 5 search engines you have used for your last 10 Web site searches sessions. ------ if you only used one you are in good company AND most web users use Google-only

Well, how many search engines, do you have to choose from? ----- about  250+ last time I looked and who are the top 15?

So how do I know if I am being well served by my current search engine of choice? ----- Well try this!
